Acme Getting Ready To Open New Store In Medina County. Find Out When

Acme Fresh Market has set the opening date for its newest location in Medina.

When the Medina store opens on Aug. 7, it will be the family-owned chain's 17th store and the first in Medina County.

The last store built by the Albrecht family was in Green in 2014.

Workers are putting the finishing touches on the new Acme grocery store in Medina.

Katie Swartz, Acme's vice president of marketing, said workers are busy putting the final touches on the store, located south of Medina's historic Public Square on state Route 3.

"As a local, family-owned business, we're proud to incorporate that local spirit into every part of our new store — from the honeycomb-inspired ceiling design that nods to Medina's beekeeping heritage, to the hyper-local Medina-made products we'll carry on our shelves," Swartz said.

Founder Frederick Wilhelm Albrecht opened his first grocery store in Akron in 1891.

The new Medina Acme will cover 56,360 square feet and is expected to employ about 80 workers.

The store will host a hiring event from 10 a.M. To 2 p.M. On July 11 and 12.

Swartz said the store's pharmacy team is already in place and will be ready to serve customers when the doors open for the first time on Aug. 7.

The store also will have commemorative Medina-themed bags to mark its opening.

Swartz said the bags will be free for customers who download the Acme app and create an account.

To pick up a bag before the store opens, she said, customers can visit Acme partner Candyapple & Co. At 109 W. Washington St., in the Medina Square.

Workers are putting the finishing touches on the new Acme grocery store in Medina.

The grocery store is just the first phase of the development of the Acme property at the northwest corner of South Court Street and High Point Drive.

Plans also call for additional smaller stores to be built connected to the main grocery store, along with a separate mid-size store.

There also are two out parcels that eventually will be developed along Route 3 across from the existing McDonald's.

The grocery store will carry a wide variety of groceries and have a deli, a bakery, a full-service meat department and a pharmacy.

The Medina store, Acme officials say, will be similar to the chain's recently remodeled stores and will closely resemble the Hudson Acme.

The chain's signature cow over the dairy case will be in the Medina store, along with a Cheerio 10-cent horse ride.

Acme And Sunoco Offer Gas Rewards Program – Daily Local

Grocery shoppers in the region who are looking for a break at the gas pump have a new option.

Acme Markets is teaming up with Sunoco to launch its Gas Reward programs in 179 Acme locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, New York and Connecticut.

Of the 400 Sunoco stations participating, 19 are in Chester County, 27 are in Delaware County and 31 are in Montgomery County.

Acme customers can get up to $1 off per gallon when redeeming their Gas Rewards.

Gas Rewards can be earned by making qualifying purchases at Acme stores. The launch of the program helps maximize value and savings for both ACME and Sunoco customers with quality, convenience and rewards, the companies said in a joint statement.

"This relationship is a fantastic opportunity to offer additional savings to our customers," said Acme President Dan Croce. "Customers will have plenty of opportunities to earn Gas Rewards at nearly all of our Acme locations, and the process to redeem the rewards is even easier."

Acme joins competitors in the region with similar programs. At Giant, customers can go to stations run by the company that are located near the stores.

Samantha Krepps, manager of public and community relations for Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets, said Giant began its Gas Extra Rewards program in February 2006.

"It's another way we offer our customers savings," Krepps said.

Danielle D'Elia, communications and government relations manager at Acme, said the program started Nov. 4 is an extension of offers made elsewhere.

"Our parent company – Albertsons Companies – has gas rewards programs with other partners across the country that have been successful," D'Elia said. "We're bringing similar savings to our Acme shoppers by our partnership with Sunoco."

The Gas Rewards program is also available in Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Carrs and Jewel-Osco stores located in Alaska, Arizona, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, Oregon, Virginia and Washington.

D'Elia said the Acme feels teaming up with a partner gives shoppers more choice.

"For example, one town might have two or three participating Sunoco gas stations to choose from to redeem their gas rewards," Delia noted.

Acme customers can register for the Gas Rewards program at www.Acmemarkets.Com or by signing up for MyMixx on the Acme App on their Android or iOS devices. Points are earned in the following manners:

* Customers receive one point per $1 spent on eligible grocery purchases.

* Customers receive one point for every out-of-pocket cost dollar spent on pharmacy, including co-pays.

* Customers can build up points twice as fast by receiving two points per $1 spent on qualifying gift cards.

"We will always look for ways to reward our customers for their loyalty to Sunoco and great brands like Acme," said Cynthia A. Archer, Sunoco LP executive vice president and chief marketing officer. "The Gas Rewards program gives our customers even more ways to save."
