PeaZip 8.2.0 File Archiver may keep extracted files when errors are encountered - Ghacks Technology News

Image
PeaZip 8.2.0 is a new version of the cross-platform file archiver. PeaZip is available for Windows and Linux, and it has become my go-to application for archive related tasks after the Bandizip fiasco. The new version of PeaZip is available as a portable version and as an installer. The program supports a wide range of archive formats that it has full support for, and formats that it can read and extract, but not create. The installation of PeaZip 8.2.0 on Windows may throw a SmartScreen error; this is not because it is unsafe to use, but a new program with too little data. A quick verification on Virustotal showed no detections by the 67 antivirus engines. Installation provides a few options, even if PeaZip is already installed. Options include enabling or disabling system integration, including context menu options. PeaZip is ready for use immediately after installation or upgrade. The official changelog lists a few changes in the new release. The big change in t

Slate Digital claims to have beaten Auto-Tune at its own game with the new MetaTune plugin - MusicRadar

Image
If you're going to create an automatic tuning plugin , it's inevitable that it will be compared to Antares Auto-Tune, so Slate Digital is coming out fighting, claiming that MetaTune is "the best automatic tuner on earth". Of course, a lot of people don't want an automatic tuning plugin for practical purposes - they simply want to create 'that' vocal effect. MetaTune promises to give it to you, with enhanced features such as Negative Speed and Note Stabilizer offering you more options and control. Allied to this is an easy-to-use interface that's said to be accessible even to those who know nothing about scales and chords, with so-called HeatMaps showing you where your notes are landing and how they're being adjusted. There are also Groups, which enable you to make adjustments to multiple instances of MetaTune simultaneously. This should ease the process of making across-the-board key changes. MetaTune is available now priced at $199 (iLok USB dongl

Larry Magid: A Toolbox full of handy Windows and Mac utilities - The Mercury News

Image
Around 1983, I started using a program called Sidekick, which was a bundle of handy utilities that popped up as a "TSR" (terminate and stay resident) program within MS-DOS. What was cool about it is that it worked at the same time and alongside whatever other software you were running back in the day when operating systems could run only one program at a time. Larry Magid (Gary Reyes / Mercury News) The days of TSRs are long gone, but a handy utility called Parallels Toolbox, reminds me of them in the way it provides useful functionality that you can use alongside whatever other programs you use. The product, which works on both Macs and Windows machines, costs $20 per year after a 7-day free trial. I'm testing the Windows version, but I've also used the Mac version, which is very similar. The specific features vary slightly depending on whether you have a Mac or Windows machine, but, in both cases, include the ability to generate and read barcodes,

Adobe Acrobat extension for Chrome, Edge gets a PDF editor - 9to5Google

Image

Highlighted on the Adobe blog today, this update to Acrobat allows users to add comments, markups, signatures, and make other basic edits to PDFs directly within their browser window, seemingly also making these functions possible on Chrome OS (though this isn't explicitly confirmed by Adobe). The Adobe Acrobat extension is available in the Chrome Web Store for both Google's uber-popular browser as well as the excellent though intrusive alternative, Microsoft Edge. New in this update is the ability for users to add comments, markups, and highlights to PDFs without downloading the full Acrobat program. Fields can also be used with the extension for text input or an e-signature. All of those features are available for free, but others will require an Adobe subscription. These features include the
